Yahooo Site Explorer shut down on November 21, 2011. They said:
'As we announced in July, Bing Webmaster Tools are supporting the Yahoo! Site Explorer community. Webmasters should now be using the Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure that their websites continue to get high quality organic search traffic from Bing and Yahoo!.
Since the middle of August 2011, the Bing Webmaster Tools have also been integrating traffic data from Yahoo! into its reports. Please check out the Bing Webmaster blog post for more information.
We have been making great progress in transitioning organic search results to the Microsoft search platform in various markets, as part of the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance. The Site Explorer website will continue to be available until organic results are completely transitioned to the Microsoft Search platform in all markets (expected to be completed by the end of the year). Webmasters may continue to use the Site Explorer website and all its services until then.
As previously announced, the SiteExplorer YDN API’s are no longer available as of September 15, 2011. We thank all the YDN developer community who used and supported the APIs.
For FAQ’s please refer to Microsoft Webmaster Tools to support Yahoo! Site Explorer Community'
Don't be surprise with the Yahoo's decision on closing down it's site explorer. Yahoo announced publicly that it would happen sooner or later this year but since November 21st was the last day for site explorer but it is some what of a kinda shocker that it has finally happened for all webmasters. Some webmasters said: "It is basically the last nail in the coffin for Yahoo Search."
Site Explorer was launched in 2005 as one of Tim Mayer's babys at Yahoo and was adored by all webmasters. I personally used it frequently for business and personal reasons and I'm very sad to see it saying goodbye to us, and I am sure it upsets Tim and team a bit more. But you can still experience it features in Bing webmaster tool as Yahoo site explorer merged with Bing webmaster tool to give much better results and I and other webmaster hope that It will bring out new opportunities in Search Industries and Challenge BigG.
